Post Eight Point
Been a long few days.. I missed the opener for the first time in 14 years in Va. My dad went in for a catheterization test last Thursday and they found 4 blockages 3 at 90% and 1 at 80%. He was immediately flown to Charleston WV for emergency Quad Bypass. I was a mess to say the least for a few days. He is getting better but still in the hospital.

This buck had ground shrinkage on me.. I shot him Monday evening around 3:30 .. the shot placement was good, behind the shoulder, but the bullet went in and hit something and came out his brisket. He bled like crazy, but I jumped him after about 500 yds. So I backed out and left him overnight. I found him the next morning about 200 yds from where I jumped him. Not a monster, and probably one I should have let walk, but I believe he is a 3 year old, he had a big body. First Kill with my new Smokeless ML build on my Encore Frame.

Sorry to hear about your dads health issues, glad to hear he is doing better. Congrats on your deer, good shot.
Bullets do funny things sometimes, especially out of a muzzleloader. What bullets are you shooting?

My prayers for a quick and full recovery! Enjoy reading and seeing the many hunts with your Dad.

Nice buck! Good shot. He shouldn't have gone that far. Sounds like you need something with more expansion.

Congrats on a nice kill it's a start for stocking the freezer, thoughts and prayers going out to your dad on a full recovery. I've shot deer before with the black powder that didnt bleed a drop and ran for 50+ yards and found them dead, bullet hit the heart and got lodged in the shoulder on the op.side. They're tough for sure...

Beautiful Deer you got there. I hunted up near your area sat through Tuesday morning and the deer were really putting on a show, good time of year to be in the woods.
