Congrats Todd on two great animals. Nice looking woods in the doe picture. I am intrigued by the cargo carrier shown on the back of your vehicle in the bear picture. Looks like a fine piece of homemade craftsmanship.

As a side to you and any others who have harvested bear, how exactly to you prepare the meat? Do you grind any of it or use it for all steaks and roasts? I've had the meat before but I don't remember much about it. If I ever have the opportunity to shoot a bear I would like to have a little guidance for after the shot.

I hang the bear just like a deer. I skin just like a deer. I strip out the back straps just like a deer and cook as such. Everything else is cut in chunks/ Roast and prepared in crock pot with potatoes, carrots, onions and 1 pack of lipton onion soup mix. Cook all day till tender, salt and pepper to taste. Also trim as much fat off roast as possible before cooking.

Nice job Todd. Do you save the claws and skull mount your bears?
