I hunt with a crossbow. Last year I used an Excalibur, 175 lb draw and hurled arrows around 270 fps. I bought a new crossbow late season, Darton Viper Xtreme, 180 # draw weight and it shoots arrows around 370 fps and is over a foot narrower. It is slightly heavier but shoots great, both are very accurate. I shoot 325 grain 22" Bloodsport Hunting arrows with Rage 100 grain broad heads. I put a Hawk scope on it. It is a variable power scope but I use the power to adjust the cross hairs for my speed bow. I am around 3.5 power which is for bows shooting 365 fps. I shoot it to 40 yards and the marks are dead on. Vic |

Bow: PSE DNA SP, 68#, 27.5" DL Arrows: Gold Tip Pro Hunter 7595 with Blazers, Onestringer reflective wraps and Firenocks Broadheads: Usually 100 gr Rage Extremes, but switching to the 125 gr steel Grave Diggers this year Quiver: Apex Nano 5-arrow, removed while on stand Stabilizer: B-Stinger around 11" Release: Carter Chocolate Addiction Lite Sights: Spot Hogg Boss Hogg My Dad is shooting a Scorpyd Ventilator 150 with a HHA Optimizer and Leupold 2-7x using Gold Tip Laser III's and Rage Hypodermics. That's a mean x-bow shooting very fast. Not quite sure but somewhere around 425 grain arrow going close to 400 fps. Off a bench he can shoot 4" groups at 80 yards. |

I've shot a bow for the past 24 years. However this year I had to move to a crossbow. I just had back surgery in August and to pull a bow back is impossible for me now. Started out in the beginning, when I was 15 with a Bear bow, upgrading several years later to a Matthews. This year I will be using a Scorypd Ventilator crossbow. Its a good bow, but I will miss the Matthews. |
