ground blinds/treestands......
Just to keep chatter going in anticipation of the quickly approaching deer season. ...
what stand do you prefer. .. tree stand or ground blind???
What brand or kind do u use....
and important question. .. When is the best time to put out a stand or ground blind. .. or how early do you place your blind or stand in the woods before deer season! ?

Re: ground blinds/treestands......
I prefer treestand because it has a better view. Blinds are okay but work both ways. There are times that you must use a blind because no alternative.
I use a climbing stand because I like the mobility. I also use 2 man ladders with my son. They all work and each has its function. All depends on the circumstance.

I use treestands, both types ladder and climbing. We are unable to use blinds and leave them out. The bears around here usually tear up a blind within a week or two...

I use all the above. Pop up blind, ladder stand, lock on stand, climbing stand, sit against a tree. Just depends on where I am at. I like to get mine out now so it just becomes part of the surroundings but if you cannot get it up until the week of I think your fine with that as well.

I prefer tree stands almost all the time, unless there isn't a good tree I love the Screaming Eagle tree stand. Rock solid, fold up extra large platform & seat http://www.screamingeagle.us/TreeStands.html Have 8 of them & been hunting out of them since 1989!

Re: ground blinds/treestands......
I went out this weekend with my son and tightened up the straps on my ladder stands and took my extension pruner to ensure shooting lanes. Had to cut a lot, must be a good growing season this year. I like to do it now so it looks better when season opens. Still have more work to do but they are functional now.
