Four deer came by my decoy setup yesterday and stood around checking them out. All of them were skin and bones emaciated. Acorn crop failure and harsh winter, I guess. They didn't look sick, just skinny. Can't tell sex with no antlers but not one looked pregnant.

I saw one like that the other day. A week or two earlier I saw deer that looked fat. I think they are starting to drop their fawns. Hopefully they are okay.

A drought this year after the tough winter with no acorns would be devastating to the deer I believe. Thankfully, that doesn't look to be the case so far.

The deer I have seen have looked smaller and more skinny than usual as well. Hopefully they can put the weight back on this spring and summer

Saw a group of bucks the other am turkey hunting one had a lot of growth already. 7" of antler on each side large diameter too. Big framed deer but thin too!
