Dale's Youth Hunt

Vic King of Spring Joined: Wed Apr 27, 2005 7:40 am Posts: 2702 Location: Baltimore, MD	Dale's Youth Hunt Was able to get my son out for youth season in MD. We got in the stand late because he has a little cold and I wanted to find something to try and quiet his cough. About 9 AM I see a deer coming through the holly thicket. I hand him the rifle after pulling the lens covers off, raining. He lines up and can't find the deer. the deer takes a couple more steps and I stop it in a shooting lane around 40 yds out. He cuts the .243 loose and the deer runs off. We wait about a half hour and decide to get down. He walks to where he shot him and finds blood. He starts to track and goes about 10 yards and sees the deer laying about 40 yards ahead. This is his 4th deer in two years, all one shot kills. He is becoming a pretty good hunter for a 9 year old. This deer was a 90 lb buck. Barely had nubs on its head. Second one I have seen like this this year. Weird, but good eating.
