Re: Rifle opener 11 point
Great deer man. With that corn I trust he wasn't the only deer on the place

Re: Rifle opener 11 point
He was shot in the woods. I only took him to corn field for pics. I thought the corn in the background would make for a cool pic. After uploading the pics I noticed that the horns blend in to much with the corn as they are about the same color. Wish I would have just taken a woods pic. Oh well you learn as you go. Almost done doing the uero mount of him, will post up a pic when its compleate. This is my 1st attemt at the euro mount. So far it seems to be going good. I did break off the nose piece during the boiling process, but was able to glue it back on.

I have done a bunch over the last 5 or so years.. the nose is the trickiest part, I have had to glue a few back on as well.. I have learned that about 2 hours is all you need to boil it.. anything more than that and your risk the bones degrading too much.. I also just boil with dish soap .. I used to boil with bleach and it degrades the bones and also will bleach the horns if you are not careful.. I wrap the horns with painters tape up to the brow tines .. then remove from the water about 3 times to scrape over the 2 hours .. lightly sand with fine sand paper after you are all done with the boiling and scraping .. then wrap in paper towels and use Peroxide or the beauty salon hair bleach product is better, but peroxide will do in a pinch .. let soak for a couple of weeks re-applying every now and then.. I'm sure yours will turn out great ..
