Last year i hunted a big 8 pretty heavy. this year i have done alot of scouting on this buck. well he moved to the neighbours farm so i started hunting that but only seen him from a distance and could not get an ethical shot. so now this week he has headed up with several big does. so now this buck is guarded like fort Knox haha. he has gone back to the farm he was on last year and im the only one hunting it. the buck comes out at dusk. should i hunt him in the wood line coming to the hay fields or should i hunt the top of the ridges to try a longer shot? How do i get pass these does that we all know they know exactly what blaze orange?

Don't know your specific situation. However, it sounds like you know where he is traveling. If this is correct then wait for a day when the wind is favorable. Set up down wind and wait for him. You could even wait laying in the field if need be. When he comes into the field whack him.

Deer don't see hunter orange the way we do. I have bow hunted deer wearing orage and still shot big does in close quarters, inside 25 yards. The more important thing is scent control and not moving. If you have a place near by that you can set up on the ground, dead fall, tall grass, brushy area, you can hunt him from the ground.

The big thing is you are seeing him in daylight. Don't miss because he will go nocturnal and game over.

Good luck!
Vic

Thanks vic for the quick reply. im not sure rather i was asking a question or needing assurance that im doing things right. after 2 yrs of chasing this buck im kinda loosing hope and feeling down on my luck. i have been successful this season with only my earn a buck tag left. man i have played alot of sports in my day and i would have to say not getting a buck is 10x worse than if you was to loose every sport game possible. but hey we love the sport so much we keep hitting it hard every morning. thanks bud

What Vic said, but if you feel like one of the does will bust and you are a long range shooter (army guy) then your longrange set up would work also. Good luck, just don't give the buck a name.

Ok, all is lost. You named him Al! You've got to whack him or you will go nuts. Just kiddy g, but this could take years. Listen to Earl and snipe him! GOOD LUCK.
