We have the latest opening day for archery season of all of the states (not including urban archery). The dates below are what I came up with looking at our states' websites. Why doesn't our season open mid-September? Archery Season Opening Dates 2012 Kentucky Sept 1 Maryland Sept 15 North Carolina Sept 10 Pennsylvania Sept 29 either sex South Carolina as early as August 15 West Virginia Sept 29 Virginia October 6 |

I mean no offense at all bronco2, but just because the season comes in earlier, doesn't mean you HAVE to hunt then. Unless you're like me, where regardless of what the weather is, I feel an obligation to the deer and turkey to go out and hunt. I personally would love a chance to try for a buck, maybe even a velvet buck Sept 1. |

https://www3.dgif.virginia.gov/web/scop ... /index.asp Here is the recommendation page for hunting comments. I recommended an earlier start date to archery season, antler point restrictions for Madison, Greene, and Rappahannock, and an archery only early spring gobbler season. |
