Was in a ground blind in Shenandoah County more or less hunting does when 6 does came gliding by at a pretty good clip. Hot on their heels probably 2 seconds behind them was a nice 6 point with his nose to the ground. Seems like the 2nd rut is kicking in. FWIW, we also saw two 8 points both running the same doe two days ago. First time we've seen that type of action since the day rifle season opened. |

It seems like the first rut here with these warm fronts we've been having, seen a doe about 20 yards from the road and a big boy lurking in shadows rite behind her last nite. Mite try doe n heat this weekend. |

I saw three small bucks pushing does this morning.. but no big boys .. I think the small bucks push them all fall if the does let them.. |

Was caught with my pants down last Tues morning scouting for ducks in KG. Was watching a beaver pond when I had a great big ole biggun, looked like a big 10 point run a doe by me at 50 yards. I did have my muzzle loader with me but had no reloads. I could never get them to stop and didn't want to take a runnin shot w/ the ole BP rifle. Especially w/o any reloads. He definetly would have been my biggest buck ever! |
