OPENING DAY OF BLACK POWDER SEASON
We had a cool rainy front move through our area on Thursday & Friday. We thought this would make the deer start moving more. The bucks had started chasing the does about a week ago. My good friend "Buzz" and I had put out cameras in August and we had quite a few pictures of nice bucks. We had decided to get in our stands on Saturday morning extra early. It was 30 degrees with a slight breeze and we knew it had to be a good day. We texted each other that we were set and locked and loaded for the day's hunt. When it started breaking daylight I heard a few turkeys gobble so since I was tagged out for the fall the turkeys were of no concern to me. As daylight came we heard a few distant shots and about 9:15 I heard Buzz shoot. Five minutes later he texted me that he had shot the big 8 point buck that we had on our hit list. I had no more closed my phone when I looked up and saw a doe running through the woods. I shot the doe at about 50 yards and while I was cleaning my muzzleloader to reload a 9 point buck came through the woods and stop next to her. I couldn't believe it, I just put the crosshairs on him and squeezed the trigger. He ran about 50 yards and laid down. In all it was one of the best opening days we had in a few years. Hope ya'll have a good season. brian

Re: OPENING DAY OF BLACK POWDER SEASON
Very Nice .. congrats to you guys.. and you too GobbleVT ..
I on the other hand sat all day on stand and saw 5 deer total.. one fork horn .. I couldn't even get a Doe in ML range.. I was surprised.. traditionally Nov 5th is when it really starts to heat up on this property.. the past two years I have killed 10 points on that day.. I think the Moon may have them messed up some..
