Post First Single Shot deer
With my Browning .260 Low Wall I just bought a few weeks ago. 2.5 year old Virginia deer. Must be the groceries. Deer dressed out at 160 lbs. Hit him in both lungs with a Federal Premium 120 grain BT. Jumped a fence and ran about 80 yards before piling up. This is my new favorite gun. Love those single shots. PS. He's an 8 point with two broken points. Like to see what was kicking the crap out of him. :)

PS. This was in Shenandoah Co. We thought he was older then 2.5 for sure, but the game biologists were there at the check in station collecting samples for CWD and they aged him for me. They said he's been eating some awfully good groceries. Lots of Alfalfa on the farm I have the pleasure of hunting.

Congratulations!

Beautiful low wall!! I am a huge single shot fan, would love to add a low or high wall to my collection one day.

Have a Ruger 1 also, but haven't used it this season. Nice deer BTW, what caliber is your Ruger?

Good caliber! I have an Encore pistol in .480ruger and love it! Have been wanting to get a Ruger #1 in .405winchester for a woods gun.

Yes it works very well and makes a big hole.

Two very nice deer. I don't see a hole in either one, was the shot so close it just scared them to death? :)

I always liked the falling block style action. I had a sharps at one point but just couldn't carry that tank around. Maybe I needed a carbine version.

One of my new favorite calibers is the .45-70. I push a 405 grain bullet at about 1400 fps. It leaves big holes too. I have been thinking about increasing its velocity to 1500+ fps. Any experience with that?
