Post Deer Sign Updates?
Anyone noticing deer sign? Any rubs or scrapes?

Other then a few chewed up acorns I am seeing very little. The deer don't seem to be moving much and the ones that are seem to be yearlings?

Been seeing above normal scraping and rubs in grayson and bland for this early. Hung a cam over a scrape and dummy me forgot to hook the camera up to the board. The board triggered 740 times to so I was disgusted  Seeing a lot of sign in wythe but no horning or scrapes yet. Tons of white oak acorns in wythe.

Started seeing some rubs this week in Loudoun and Clarke counties. Wednesday evening I watched a 6 point thrash some scrub trees for about 20 minutes before he moved down the ridge. No scrapes found yet. Its been hard to get on the deer this week with the moon being out all night and the days being relatively warm. Managed to bring down a doe this evening, so I am back in the buck hunt after fulfilling the EAB requirements.

Geez, must just be where I'm hunting then- I walked around the 200 acres I hunt today and found zero scrapes or rubs. Best thing I came cross were two doe beds. I pulled both my trail cams where I always hang them with loads of pics in the past and only had about 10 pics of a few does and a bunch of fawns....what is going on???

My guess is either they are back in the woods eating acorns or have located another food source. Do you have water on your place? I hunted a holler yesterday evening on national forest that has a few pools of water, laurel, and oaks and seen 8 does. They stayed within hearing distance for almost 2 hours just sucking up the acorns and getting a drink.

Haven't seen a rub yet...haven't specifically been looking but I've covered a lot of ground in the woods so I'm surprised I haven't seen any. Have seen a several bucks here and there so I'm not concerned but it is unusual.

Only sign i've had was i got a few trail cams out in small block of woods and finally seen a nice buck show were it had only been does, it was at 2 in the morning. This summer i never had any buck activity in that area, no acorns have been seeing lots of deer in cut corn rite at dark.

RUO,

There are places that are good for early season and those that are good for late season. With out seeing your property it might just be a food/water thing. They are going to be where their preferred food is and move to less preferred as the year moves on. If a neighbor has better food sources the deer will be there, i.e. corn, beans, acorns. However, once those dry up they will move to next prefered foods, grass, clover, etc... Do you do anything to this 200 acres to make it more attractive to deer? If not you might want to check out QDM.

Yeah but there's 2-3 other ones around that are just as big if not bigger. I'd like to me my dad get one, he's hasn't killed a big one in a couple years.

I've been finding a few more rubs each time I go into the woods. Looks like they are starting to feel it a little more. The end of this week and next weekend could be pretty good if the temp drops a little more like its supposed to
