Re: How's the acorns??
Where I hunt near Hanky Mtn and Elliot's Knob...the acorns are falling lots of them. My son found the biggest acorn I've ever seen! It was about as round a 50 cent piece. I felt like I needed to wear a hard hat walking through the woods. Anyway...it looks like they're plentiful in Western Augusta County.

Re: How's the acorns??
Acorns are dropping heavy up this way. Seems to be all varieties. Guess the drout followed by the heavy rain has them all messed up. Usually don't see them like this till mid October.

Re: How's the acorns??
Here's what I've been hearing from others that have been in the woods around here. Whiteoaks are very spotty. Redoaks have a decent crop. Black & Scarlett oaks are loaded. Beechnuts are loaded Persimmons aplenty.

Re: How's the acorns??
Haven't been to most of my spots but bland county seems to have a good bit of red oak acorns. Havent checked the white oaks yet. There's acorns at my house in the fence line but everybody else I've talked haven't seen any . I don't think its going to be a bumper crop like last year though!

Not seeing much in nova myself. I believe its the red oak that only produces every other year. Is that right? Its either the red or white i think

In West Agusta area, lots of acorns, and grapes! Going to be hard to find them this year becuase they won't have to travel much. But will be fun

Re: How's the acorns??
I have been out quite a bit and seeing about the same as you all. North of Baltimore the whites are almost nothing. Chestnuts seem to be pretty heavy and have been falling. Reds are dropping now and pretty heavy. Thought Reds usually didn't start to drop until late October. It is causing problems on patterning the deer, but will figure it out. Have to check on the persimmons, see how many of those are around.
