The Killing Tree...
Ol Chocolate Horns met his demise Monday afternoon by walking too close to the Killing Tree... Attachment:

The Killing Tree has produced some good stuff over the past couple seasons... Squoose was sitting at the base of it on his gobbler hunt with me this spring (you can see the stand in the tree on the right)... Attachment:

The fall before that this guy wandered by much like Ol Chocolate Horns did on Monday... Attachment:

The view from the stand. The buck was standing just this side of the 2 persimmon trees in the field... Attachment:

Re: The Killing Tree...
Somehow i sensed a bow-kill deer like this was a foregone conclusion for Three Toes. Great job in a special place My Friend. Is it an 8 or a nine point? Keep after them. By the way, the view of the tree isn't bad looking back from the other direction in May.

Re: The Killing Tree...
That tail feather hasn't left my car since that day! Just don't mess with good luck charms.
Thats a heck of a tree in a heck of a spot. As beautiful as it is productive. Killing tree for sure. Congrats again on a beautiful deer! Is he as symmetrical as he looks?
Best, Royce

Re: The Killing Tree...
Is that a food plot? If so, what did you plant?

Re: The Killing Tree...
Standard food plot protocol for me is wheat, oats and clover. Clover variety depends on soil test/etc. Ladino and Durana mostly. Occasionally plant some brassicas/turnips/radishes but it's hard to beat just the wheat, oats, clover combo.

Re: The Killing Tree...
A lot of hard work into those plots paid off handsomely for you Ol' Three Toes. Couldn't be happier for you my friend!
