One of my co-workers sent me this pic of a bird he saw in his backyard yesterday morning in Potomac, MD. Does anyone else think this looks like escaped domestic?
I don't see any beard, spurs, or worn down wing feathers. Head & the tail don't look right either to me.
Just looking for your alls opinion, thanks.
Tim

Hard to say. Lots of things affect a birds nature. Shoot it next year and find out.

To funny GN. But just looking at the legs, lack of caruncles through out the head and neck and besides the body size, feathers, I would lean toward the domestic side. But since all the birds or major majority of birds we hunt today have some domestic strain in them and the few little isolated pockets in a few states where the pure native turkey exists, again this bird no doubt is domestic just how much :smt017 . My bid is for 100% pen bird.

But, with the white head and legs it could be one of the 26 strains of black head/pox disease. Bird looks healthy from the pic though.

We can guess all day but the only way is kill it like Vic said next year but I would say this year when the fall season starts and have a biologist look at it before consuming.

looks like a tame or domestic bird. notice the leg color, not as red as a wild bird. also the faded head color.
