Post Mount Rogers Turkey
Took this one April 20 around 9:15am. have not heard a lot of gobbling on the roost this year, nor last year. This guy and 2 others opened up around 8:30 after I hit my box call. I got within 100 yds, but on the other side of a deep ravine with small creek. He made me crawl down and back up a 45 degree ridge to get to him. a few cutts and he answered back. Waited 10 minutes and the next gobble he was in range, standing in the wide open. Staring me down, I sat frozen as he stepped behind a bush. I could see him peering at me thru the brush, but didn't have a shot. He gobbled two more times and finally stepped back out in the open. Took two steps toward me and I must have shifted my weight in anticipation, cause he said "Putt" and took off. I had a running broadside shot which took him down at 30 steps. It never gets old.

VERY nice! Way to go!
Nice recap too. Way to often, when they've seen me they've just disappeared  behind a tree, over a hill...Never to be seen again.

By the look of that photo hopefully you'll be giving another recap here soon -- I have my fingers crossed!

I had to repost the pics above - photobucket screw ups. Using postimage.com now.
