Got a few days to hunt WV
My son and I headed to Northern WV Tuesday afternoon to do a little hunting. We got to my friend's house around 7PM and did a little recon of the property. While out we bumped into a tom with a hen. I figured he would roost in the near area and we had a plan for Wednesday morning. We walked over the hill Wednesday morning and found the spot where the turkey's were the night before. We walked up the right of way about 40 yards and found a good place to set up, the decoys placed just right of my son. Soon we hear a gobble from a triangle of woods between two right of ways. I throw some tree yelps and clucks and he responds. I go quiet. I now hear him on the ground and start calling more. He gobbles repeatedly. I keep calling and he keeps responding getting closer and closer. All the sudden we hear nothing. I call, nothing. I'm thinking a hen carried him away when my son looks over and says he's on the right of way about 120 yards out. Sure enough, he is heading our way strutting all the way. His current trajectory is going to bring him 5 to 10 yards walking right in front of us. I decide I don't want to get busted and when he clears the bush and am going to take him. He'll be around 25 yards. He follows the script and clears the bush. I cut and yelp and he just keeps on strutting. I wait for him to turn broadside and drop the hammer. He's a real nice bird with good hooks. I didn't get to weigh him but got 7 lbs of breast meat off of him. I would think that puts him around 25 lbs. Here's some pics. Vic Attachment:

Vic that is a great turkey and these W V stories have all been fun to read. You are indeed having a fine year. Congrats to you...and your crew.
