Youth day
This year is my first year taking my daughter out she's 8 she'll be 9 in June, she's shot the 410 pretty good I'm sneaking her in a 20 gauge. I think with her killing her first turkey she may not feel the kick difference. Also her and my adrenaline will be going I have, i have a pair of ear protection and a shooting stick. We'll also be in a ground blind because there calling for light drizzle and breezy opening day, we will be set up in a 2 acre opening back in the woods. I was listening there this morning and heard 5 different birds gobbling all within a 100 yards or so of the ground blind. Good luck to anyone going this Saturday taking a youth or first time apprentice. As we all know nothing is guaranteed in the spring woods, but it sure will be fun to get out there and go through the motions.

Re: Youth day
My oldest is going out with me Saturday, he'll be toting my old Mossberg 500 12 gauge, spent some time shooting field loads to get him used to the gun. The 6's are effective out to 25 yards, we shot some old Fed. Premium Magnum 2 3/4" 6's I still have also. He didn't mind the recoil so I may slip that in the chamber just so I know he has a buffer out to 30 yards. The gun has a Kicks GT .655 and it throws a mean pattern with Win XX 3" 5's.

Re: Youth day
I will have my 8 year old nephew with me on his first turkey hunt. He shot the 20 gauge good so now we just gotta get one in range to play the game.

Re: Youth day
My children are all too old to hunt now, but we are going out to listen. I wish all the young hunters & their guides the best of luck. Have a safe & ethical hunt!!!!
