Heard 5 on the roost this morning, but didn't have time to hang around and see how long they'd gobble. Saw a longbeard with three hens in the road on my way out and a strutter in a field by the highway on my way home. Happy Easter everybody!

Post Re: Listening time
Did not hear a sound on Saturday 3/26 in Rappahannock County, but what a difference a day makes. This mourning 3/27, I went out around 6:10 AM and listened for a short time and didn't hear anything so went back into the house for a cup of coffee. Went back out around 7:00 AM and starting at 7:10 and lasting until 8:30 I had gobblers sounding off in six directions. On the way out of the driveway; I noticed what looked like a small black dot on a power line right of way. Getting my binoculars, it turned out to be a gobbler strutting along with a Jake. Driving along 522 south I saw a hen in a pasture, a gobbler in 2 separate fields outside of Flint Hill and another strutter in an apple orchard at Massie's Corner. :D

I live in a wooded subdivision and this morning 0645 was standing on the back deck and one sounded off 200 yrds from the house  your not supposed to fire guns in the subdivision but he sure was hammering stood there and listen to him gobble for 10 straight minutes. It seemed like between every breath he gobbled. I drove around some of the side streets to see if I could spot him strutting.

Heard 3 different birds on Saturday in Frederick County. A couple of gobbles on the roost and a couple after flydown for each bird.

Turkey were still flocked last weekend and sign scarce in usual areas. last 2 days have seen the signs of breakup occuring. gobblers on separated roosts and singles/pairs of hens. If weather calms in time after tonights event youth weekend could be a very good one. ymmv

Found a couple more this morning I can hunt.. I hope the weather is decent on Saturday, cause it seems like it is an early spring and wish I was hunting them right now.. a bit worried that by April 9th we may be in a lull ..

Randy, glad to hear you found some birds in your new area. Let me know if you want to come back to Jean's sometime.
Good hunting this weekend for the boys. You taking both out?
