TWRA expects 35 percent license fee increase

It's been a while in coming but look for a rise in license fees by the end of February.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Commission meets this week at the Region II offices in the Ellington Agricultural Center, and the main item on the agenda is a 35 percent increase for both resident hunting/fishing and sportsman licenses.

There are other changes in cost, and they range from 19 percent to the 35 percent.

Other items on the agenda include recognizing A.J. Gulley of the Shikar-Safari International as the state's Wildlife Officer of the Year.

The business session starts Thursday at 9 a.m. Committee meetings and discussions will be held starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

signs of the times...just hope the $$ go toward habitat enhancement and other appropriate "worthy" causes and not to an administrator's salary. :?

That should make the residence Sportsman licsense aprox. $139.05. That's a pretty good price to pay for the privilege to hunt.
And a heck of a price if you live in the eastern part of the state!!

I agree gobbstopper, and a mighty large increase at one pop too, but it is still the best 140 bucks I spend all year

Anybody know if this will affect the non-resident license?

What I read says it will effect residence and non-residence.

Freddie, here's a cut 'n paste on the increase for non-residents:

Non-resident licenses will see the biggest jump in price. Non-resident all-game licenses go from $155 to $250 with a seven-day all-game license increasing to $175 from $105.

But, you can buy your 2005-2006 license prior to April 16, so you can beat the increase for this year. However, it will be Feb 20ish before they go on sale.

Thanks guys... that's a pretty significant increase for the non-residents. I wish they would come up with some type of license just for tukey hunting. I'm going to have to get a 2nd job just to pay for out of state licenses this year!!

The increase does not take effect until April. So, if you buy your license before then, it will be cost the same as last year :)
