The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Board of Directors is proposing another new regulation. This regulation will hurt our efforts to recruit new hunters.

4VAC15-50-12 moves bear out of deer and bear youth day so that youth cannot have an opportunity to shoot a bear on the current deer/bear youth day.

This is another case of the Virginia Bear Hunter’s Association trying to keep a resource for themselves to the detriment of the majority of hunters and youth. And this while the bear population is currently increasing across the Virginia.

Please let the DGIF know what you think about this regulation change or this regulation takes effect in July. Comment period ends May 22.
