A great hunt
This morning was the first ever turkey hunt for my daughter Brandy. Last year in the fall she decided to give huntn a try. Ive always try to get her to hunt but never forced it on her. So this hunt was a hunt that i never thought would happen! We have been seeing some birds off and on for the last few weeks so thursdy eve we went a put up our blind. At daybreak we heard one away off and was happy that brandy got to hear this because yesterday i listen here and didnt hear a peep. Then we hear hens across the road and wasnt long before a gobbler fired up. I called and he would answer and then Brandy said wow he is getting closer. The next call was answered were i told Brandy to get her gun ready he was just out of site! Then all of a sudden 2 Longbeards came running in to our decoy setup and had hens with them. I had a strutter decoy and the one went to it. I told her to go ahead and kill him. He finally quit moving and gave her the shot and then we startd our celebration! This was a special hunt for me and i told her she did a great job because yesterday she wasnt feeling great due to allergies! I have a definetly feeling that she will be with me more this spring He wighed 18 lbs 10 in beard and 1 1/8 spurs!!! Doug
