What brand, style, and set up do you like? I'll kick it off. I used and swear by the Cherokee Blow ups. My favorite is the bully jake. I like them because I walk a lot in steep ground and I need something thats easy to pack and carry and also looks dang good. That head looks so real

This is my new decoy for this year. Cut head of off a HS Strut hard body jake and replaced it with head from a Cherokee jake. Shot 2 birds over it so far. Might do some more painting on the wings.

have to admit, I'm a big fan of the turkey decoy,started out with a single hen when they first were introduced into the turkey woods. As the industry grow, so did my turkey decoys. From feeding hens, uprights to strutters. Found it's way to my decoy bag. Killed plenty of birds standing in the decoys BUT...... I do have to say that with our late spring,birds being flocked up ,working out their pecking orders. have to say that I've never had birds so afraid of the gobbler/strutter decoys as this year. For the first time in many years, I'm, leaving my gobbler decoys in the bag til late season. at least here in the Flatlands of Va. |

I’ve got a set of cheap rubber HS Struts (hen and jake) from Wal-Mart. They work well. I have touched up the jake head with some of my wife’s bright red and white finger nail polish and clear coat on his eyes. My first gobbler this year flogged him on opening day. They are fine, but they require attention each evening. I either give them a hot bath I also have a DSD hen, and I borrow my Dad’s DSD jake. They are by far superior decoys as far as looks, dependability (they don’t fold up on themselves and the stakes don’t break), and getting birds close. The second gobbler I shot this year was 2 ft from the DSD jake Saturday morning. He walked right past the DSD hen to the jake. |

 I have used several different kinds but the DSD's are IMO the best decoy made ! And they are made in the USA ! |

I agree that the dsd are the best as far as looks but they don't pack well and they just don't suite my style of hunting. I need something lite, packs easy, and looks real. That's why I'm a blow up decoy man. |

I have a DSD hen and an Avian X jake. I have gone away from the strutters because they are a pain to carry around. The Jake looks very real. I like it a lot. Only thing I don't like about the Avian X dekes is the weight and packing. I leave they full body all the time and that is a little bulky. I would have bought the Avian X hen too, but already had the DSD. I think DSD's do look outstanding, but are a little pricy. I think a hen and a jake are around $300, right? Vic |

Avian X for me... a little bulky and slightly heavy, but worth it to me. I've just been using them this year and been highly impressed. |

For about 10 years I have carried collapsible foam decoys (standing jake and upright hen) in my vest and used them whenever I want to set up on a field. The results have been pretty underwhelming. Last year I started using a Jake-mobil (smaller body than B-mobil) with a real fan, along with a feeding hen. The real fan has made a tremendous difference, accounting for two 3-yr-olds last year (one of which was so preoccupied destroying the decoy he didn't spook when my nephew stood up and shot him at 20 yds), one 3-yr-old this year, and a couple of jakes have come in to the set-up also. If I want to run and gun I still carry just the collapsible foam decoys but seldom use them. I think that inflatable Cherokee jake decoy looks real good. Who sells them? |
