Post opening day sucess
On opening morning me and Shane(son)usually hits are normal spot but not today since the birds havent been doing much there. We got lucky and picked up a new spot and scouted it and heard birds there everytime. Last week we set a blind and went there thursday am before work and heard 3 so decided to hit this spot this morning. We got there early to setup pretty boy and found out the cows have tore the backside of our blind up but we had some saftey pins and started pinning what was left back together. It wasnt long before he sounded off about 200 yds away and gobbled good on the roost. He answered me a few times but didn't seem to interested at first. Then no gobbles for about 1/2 hour and finaly an answer and could tell he was gettin closer. Wasnt long before Shane said here he comes in from behind us and i looked out the side window and he strutted by us at 12 yds. He had his eye on prettyboy and we knew what was going to happen. I always let Shane have the first shot but he also took the second shot  He was a nice bird weighed 22.11lbs, 12 inch beard and 1 3/8 spurs! Also notice the few solid black feathers in his wing! Here is the video of the hunt!

Congratulations Shane. Looks like the first shot went a little right. But you smashed him on the follow up. Thanks for sharing the hunt Doug with story and video.

Very cool. Guess he wanted to give the bird a sporting chance by firing one across his bow. Number 2 did the trick.
