Friend asked me if I knew anyone that wanted some baby turkeys, I just assumed they from some tame birds. NOPE! Her uncle ran over a nest while bush hogging a couple weeks ago that had 15 eggs in it. He took them and hatched them out. Poults in March...this is crazy!!! |

That is early. At least with the warmer then normal weather it may be a benefit to all and have a very good hatch. Obviously the eggs survived. Did he run over or kill the hen? If not he should have left the eggs, chances are likely the hen would return to sit. Earl |

That kind of plays that my cousin could have seen poults, interesting. He had looked at them with a spotting scope so I figured he saw something. Since being in Ocean City MD is about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than where you are Barry it is possible they do have youngins running around. Guess if this hatch doesn't make it they still have time to try again wouldn't you think? Gonna be an interesting year. Vic |

I saw a group of turkeys in the field yesterday and one of the hens had 8 polts with her. |

Earl He didn't see the hen but with all cover gone that would only make her and the nest more vulnerable to predators. At least this way she can renest. Not sure what would be the best thing to do...maybe let nature do her thing??? |

Hopefully with the warmer then normal weather it will be a great nesting and hatch. I would welcome that more so then if the gobblers will be responsive. Earl |

I was told by a DNR officer that if a gobbler finds the nest he'll crush the eggs so the hen will re-breed if it's true i'm not to sure something that was said to me? |
