Post subject:  WE GOT A LOT OF BIRDS IN VA. THIS YEAR

My buddy & I went out scounting a new piece of National Forest here in VA this morning. We've been to this area twice this year and we know birds are here in this area but have yet to hear any gobble. We've seen a few nice gobblers and captured these gobblers on video this morning slipping down into the creek bed to get water. I was fortunate enough to pull out my Playsport Kodak camera, slip a few yards and capture these 6 gobblers drinking water. Not a lot of footage but seeing birds is the best scouting you can do. Now if I could just get them gobbling. Mountain birds aren't being vocal right now. I have my test subjects for my new TSS loads but its not fun without the TSS loads and a gun. LOL

Nice bust, will have to feed you some Alpo and use you as a turkey dog. :smt003

Thanks for sharing.

There does seem to be a lot of birds around. But a report from the DNR stated that a poor hatch 2 years ago and should be very few 2 year olds.
I know in this area we have had fair to good hatches the last 3 now if most of what we are seeing is Jakes (which did see a mess of them this fall/winter) and longbeards, don't know if they were 2 or 3+ but the kills will tell.

I am just hoping for a perfect day for the youth hunt.
