The birds I am chasing are quiet, have not heard a peep in 4 mornings. Maybe this weekend?

Gotta love that first gobble of the year!

I love to hear them and see them, but it's still early right now to pin down patterns. They are still in winter flocks for the most part here, and when that break-up occurs then it's time to get serious about scouting. I have some farms that will hold turkeys all fall and winter and then during the spring they all leave, and some that are vice-versa... and some that hold them year around.

There is no such thing as too much intel though, so go when you can!

I know what you mean Freddy. One of my best places in Va down south holds very few birds in the fall (lots of fields and cutovers)but come spring it's nuttin to hear 10-15 from one hill top. They like to roost in the tall oak and pine strips along and between the cutovers and pastures...hens are there for nestin...

Heard two roost gobbling here this morning in Central PA. March 20 has always been my annual kick off date each spring when I start listening here in PA but the unusual tropical weather we're having  got the best of me and I couldn't sleep this morning. The first bird gobbled hard on his own and in the 5 minutes that I stood there listening he gobbled 8-10 times, twice to me owl hooting, once at a distant train, and the rest on his own just because he wanted too. The second bird a few miles down the road only gobbled once (on his own) while I was there, and despite my best attempts to get him to gobble at me owling he would not. I did however call in 2 owls while trying.

It was a beautiful morning and I'm now having difficulty sitting here at work. :( LOL
