 SPRING TURKEY 2012 Just found out that I will be hunting in Virginia for Spring Turkey this year to attend a school. Where are all of the good places to hunt around Newport News, VA? I would like to have a plan as to where I am going to be hunting before I get out there. Thanks for all the help!

Re: SPRING TURKEY 2012 I am from around D.C. but I know that AP Hill has a lot of birds. Just check and see what the requirements are to hunt on the base. Quantico is now doing background checks that take a day or two for non-military hunters.
I also hunt in some of the North Eastern counties of North Carolina and always see birds.

Re: SPRING TURKEY 2012 Unless you have access to private land there isn't very good public land that close to you. I would make a couple trips to the mountains.

Re: SPRING TURKEY 2012 you will have a lot more public land if you head towards richmond area... cumberland state forest is a good place... you just have to get a state forest stamp which is only $16 i believe
