With many of the traditional arguments against Sunday hunting failing to gain much traction this year, opponents of the bills have spent a lot of time focusing on the noise and disturbance factor.

You know, shouldn’t non-hunters have a quiet weekend day to enjoy the outdoors during the fall?

Please support a ban on using tractors on Sundays.

1. The noise is very annoying.

2. Farmers should be in church on Sunday.

3. The land and animals needs a day of rest.

These issues are just red herrings and everybody knows it. If there were really a disturbance issue, it would be an issue for every day of the week, and Sunday hunting would be a problem in all of the states where it is legal....when in reality there is no problem in those states.

And how dare some land owners think they can dictate what happens on other people's property all over the state. But that's mostly a red herring too.

We all know what the real issue is.

I'm a landowner, and I'm against Sunday hunting. However, I will abide by what is decided by the legislature. We all get a vote, we bring our ideas to our representatives, and it is battled out in the arena of public opinion.

I will also say this though, from what I've seen there have been a lot of feathers ruffled by this initiative. Not so much mine, but by people who otherwise really wouldn't be involved in hunting issues. There are non-hunters out there who would otherwise be neutral, who now have a new reason to be against hunting. I hope that the quest to get Sunday hunting passed would not be the reason we create a new crop of opponents to our sport. We've all worked too hard to promote our sport to see it damaged over this.

Nice post Rick. The whole disturbance argument is rediculous. I guess an NFL game wouldnt create noise either.
