 a lil song to the monkey this morning!!!NAH NAH NAH NAH>>> NAH NAH NAH NAH>> HEY HEY HEY>>> GOOODBYEEE!!!!
what a beautiful morning indeed in the fine turkey woods this morning!! as has been for the entire season really!! i find myself hugged against a tree quite early this morning, in craig county on some national forest... it is barely day light and i see two dekes sitting in a lil ( homemade ) field off of a logging road!!.. i sit and wait... and hear nothing... a few soft calls later.. GOBBBLEEEE!!!!! about 80-100 yards directly in front... this went on for about 20 min or so.. with a few long distant answers!!.. gobbling stops.. so i decided to throw it on a little bit more... GOBBLEEE.. this time a lil bit closer! i thought.. ewwww... this is good!!.. and ladies and gents.. there he was!!.. his head full of colors and he was headed my way!! thank you Lord!!!! i must admit.. and i know different people have different feelings about this.. but this close to the end of the season and no bird in hand.. i didnt have to think about it too much.. he was a biggg jake.. but he had all the makings of a great gobbler... anyways!! he came into the lil field.. 35 yards away from the barrel of the gun.. i had him pegged so i wanted to see what would happen.. he walked to me.. the caller... and then all of a sudden.. he catches a glimpse of the two dekes in the lil field... no joke fellas.. it was like the ole boy was saying.. " well HELLO LADIES!! " ( ya know that wrestler that used to say that) he walked over there to them in a half strut.. and i got him to gobble a few more times... i decided to end the show and get the monkey away from me at about 6:25 this wonderful morning with a load of nitros making a direct hit!! what a great day in the woods.. as is every!!!.. i want to thank all of you fellas who have encouraged me a heck of alot in my last post ( is it technically over with??) i think everybody starts to feel that way every now and then.. and welll that was my time.. but with the advice.. encouragement.. and pick-me-ups!! i was able to get myself out of the bed this morning!!.. thanks guys!!!! and thank you Lord!! |
