Post I'm on a bird that....
I am going to kill or he is going to cause me to spend all my vacation!
First morning I hunted him, I missed him. Not a simple miss, but I still shot and missed. Second and third mornings he roosted in same place and walked to same spot to strut. I was there this morning waiting on him. We all know how a turkey hunting plan goes. He gobbles behind me some 80-100 yards across the 30 yard wide power line strip and in a strip of woods that's not 100 yards wide. I didn't make a call because I had a hen in 50 yards of me. I just sat there and listened to the gobbling and yelping and then helplessly watched 7 turkeys fly down into the field on the other side of the woods.
If I don't kill another bird this year, I am going to chase him til seasons end!

There's nothing like going one on one with an old gobbler. Several years ago I hunted one bird every Sat. I finally took him on the next to last Sat. It was a very memorable and rewarding hunt for me, best of luck on your bird.
Keep em Gobblin!

Well, sounds like it's time to give this old fellow a name! A bird like that can ruin a season in a hurry.

But the stories surrounding those named birds have been nothing short than poetic!

I have given him several names, but I had better not post them here!
Friday morning I plan on giving him a new name, "dead bird"! But I have been trying to give him that name since mid season.

Saturday morning I plan on giving him a new name, "dead bird". He gobbled 64 times on the roost this morning and once again the hens and jakes were between me and him. Had them coming at 9 this morning, but a hen that I did not know was around ended the game when I moved to get into the gobblers line of travel. Tomorrow is another day.

Sounds to me like you better set up housekeeping on the strut zone and live there for awhile.

Tim I had him coming Sunday morning, but my son misunderstood my pre hunt instructions and was caught changing positions to be more in the action, and spooked him. Learning experience for him and he did not get fussed at. I can recall a million blunders I have made. Season closes Sunday, but I have 5 more mornings and, since I got the yard work done this evening, all the evenings.
