Post Well I got the Monkey and turkey
Went out this morning displite the cold tempatures and brezze conditions. I arived at my setup at about 6:15 a.m. and let out a few owl hoots. I was greeted with a few gobbles. I setup on a ridge close to the birds knowing they like this ridge. From my setup I could also see the edge of a field about 50 yards away. I was thinking they would come up this ridge to that field and get out of the wind, or circle around and head for the hollow below me. Ine by one I watch the hens fly down, not making a sound but for the scratching in the leaves every so often. I was sitting in a rather odd postion so I kinda turned around and stood up to get a better picture of the surrounding area. Whoops, in that field about 45 yards from me was a gobbler, all alone looking down the ridge line for the hens. He would feed some then look and so on . I thought I will wait and let him come closer, seeing I was standing up and in plain sight (hhe Hee).
He moved a little closer then stoped and looked my way, we all know the look. I figured he was about 35 yards so I put the bead on him and dropped him. He was accually 42 steps. I don't like long shots but it was now or never. He wqas a good two year old bird with a 10 3/16" beard, 3/4" spurs and he weighed in at 18# 5 oz. After I shot I looked to my left and there was that darn monkey looking at me. I decided to get him too. He was most likely not alone so I will be on the look out for his friends. As I was leaving I saw another gobbler in an adjacent field all alone feeding, I will look for him this weekend. Hope all have had good luck, keep tryin, you will get one. How do you post some pictures I have few to share. Please let me know.

Congratulations, I figured that bird would be an older one form the way he gave us the slip! Smart bird, but his luck ran out. The other two on the property should be bigger. Let me know when you can go again.
