4/19 - What was up with this AM?
Seemed to be the perfect morning - warm night, relatively clear, calm, etc.
Not a single gobble.
Anyone else with similar results this morning or hearing any?
Just curious.

I witnessed the exact same thing. I hunted till noon and covered ~ a mile of mountain and farmland not a peep from anything. I even noted that the song birds were less vocal.

I agree gentlemen.. this moring couldnt have been any better... however.. i did here a very faint couple gobbles on my property about 6:15ish... and then i saw at about 75-80 yards away a hen ( or a jake ) couldnt really tell if it had a lil beard or not.. still a lil dark and to far away... but it was runnin down my driveway, at what i thought was me.. or me dekes i had set out... but she cut across and went into some thick stuff.. my guess. it was a hen.. going to her nest... what do you think guys??
anywho..i have a feeling they are really henned up right now... next couple weeks may get the hens laying.. and then the action will kick back in...

I had the same experience in Amherst Co Monday AM. Warm, gorgeous, sunny morning . . . and no gobbles although I KNOW he's there (see my post "What A Show!").
Interesting that someone noted quieter songbirds too . . . I remember thinking the exact same thing while I was out. Strange.
Ready, I hope you're right!!

I agree
I spent three days last week where there are turkey by the dozens and didn't hear a sound. I plan to go back there in about two weeks and I'll bet there is some action then.

I had the same issue, yesterday the birds seemed to be all over the place. This morning very little gobbling. However, there was one that gobbled a couple of times, came a little too close and will gobble no more. Praise the Lord.

Well Dixie and I hunted this am and not a peep, well actually one bird gobbled twice..WAY OFF. I watched a gobbler and a few hens yesterday eve right before flyup and we were there this am and NOTHING from them or any other gobblers we know are close by. The crows were not even making noise.

They gobbled this evening in East Tennessee, at least the two I watched did.

Same thing this morning down in Charles City. Perfect morning - clear, 52 degrees, not a breath of wind, barred owls active - and not a single gobble. Had one raspy old hen yelping to beat the band when she hit the ground, though. Given how quiet this past week has been, that hen was a real highlight.

I've been trying to quantify some of this info on "Gobbling times State". This kind of info is helpful.
