Post Rio Mount....Hanging Dead...
I've about got it done. I've got a few small things to do, but other than that, it's finished.

Going after the Texas appearance of a freshly killed, "soft" looking gobbler, draped over an old wagon wheel that was propped on an old fence post. Added the horns for the appearance of randomly placed old sheds hung on the wheel and atop the post.

Specs...
Bird has soft, layered appearance to feathers
Corner unit
Old (100yrs+/-), authentic wagon wheel
Old "fence railing" from local NC River makes up the base face boards
Dremmeled rusty nails, hot glued in original holes for loose fitting appearance
2 of 74 Sheds found in Texas while turkey hunting in early April
LIVE cactus
Old fence post along with rusty barbed wire
Crushed, dead, brown grass/weeds for base filler

The pic with the sun on it really brings out the color. The mount gets evening sun and that really brings out the bronze on the Rio's.

I'm running out of room in the house, I think I need a bigger one:)

Hey FullFan,
SUPER MOUNT!!!
Always thought my next good one would be mounted similar to that.
I'm just still waiting for that "Next Good One."

I assume you did the taxidermy.
Where you located?

Thanks guys...sorry to make it sound like I did the bird itself...I did not. Had a guy in Charlotte, NC do it for me. I did the base, wheel, post, etc.

As much as I worked on the base, ideas, and wheel I feel like I did the entire thing myself

Barry...I know what you mean by the "next good one". I didnt want a bird with big hooks because the mount doesnt show the spurs at all. I simply wanted a 20# bird that wasnt roughed up from the shot and thats exactly what I got.
