tagged out, but a little sad
I put my last tag on a beautiful tom yesterday morning, my best bird of the season.
My season is over.
Oh my God! I now realize that my season IS OVER.
NO MORE waking up at 3:15 AM.
NO MORE waiting to hear that 1st gobble of the morning.
NO MORE wondering what call to make and when to make it.
NO MORE adrenaline rush as a tom struts into range.
NO MORE dozing off during the dull moments of morning long hunts.
NO MORE anticipation about what's in store for the next hunt.
Yes, along with that feeling of accomplishment on tagging out, there is a feeling of sadness because all of the above are over for this year.
Well, only 48 weeks and 4 days until next season.
Oh yeah, my last bird - 19 LB, 11 inch rope, 1 1/8" & 1 3/16" spurs.
May you all be blessed with success.

Sounds like you had a great season Barry!
I woke up this morning at my usual hunting time and just laid there in the bed wondering what I was missing until time to get ready to go to work.
Im taking a friend in the morning though! I just got to remember to not slam the door and wake up my wife on the way out of the house at 5:00am. She is all smiles since I tagged out and got to sleep in a few mornings.
Good luck iisabigone

band teacher she is all smiles because she thinks I wont wake her up at 4:00 to 5:00 am anymore this spring.
She claims I make all kinda racket while Im trying to sneak out of the house.
If you ever get a look at me you will see Im not built for sneaking anywhere!
Anyhow, Im going to be sneaking out of here in the morning trying to get one of my buddys a bird before I go to work.
