Got to hunt this morning with my brother at our farm in Cumberland this morning. We had a bird hammering and got set up about 80 yards from him and he was eating all my calls up. Seams he had a couple of Jakes with him and when they flew down the Jakes came walking in ahead of the big boy. When they got to about 10 yds. from us one of the Jakes spotted us and started to putt and get out of dodge in a hurry. The old longbeard was still out of range and with two tags left and only a couple days he could hunt he hammered the joker that spotted us. Had about a 5 in. beard and nubs for spurs but we had a blast with them. Seams like they are still fired up. Having a blast this year, hope everyone else is, too. |
