Post subject:  Central and southern VA spots?

I usually hunt the national forests in the northern part of the state. I am taking off Thursday and Friday to hunt, and want to hunt national forest further down 81, where bird densities are a little tighter from what I have heard. Anybody have any insight on to what general or specific area I should try to get on some birds? Any areas around between Harrisonburg and Roanoke I should try out? Thanks. you can email at: michaelmoran@rocketmail.com

North River Recreation Area outside of Stauntan is a good place. You can even camp there if you like. I know a few folks that hunt there like VABird Hunter, Tim. Ask him for suggested locations to hunt there.

Hay, I'm not sure how the birds are in that area.I saw a few during the first week of deer season.Mostly in the flat areas near the camp ground. North River Camp Ground is off rt 250 headed towards Deerfield Va.The camp ground is about 30 minutes past Staunton. Even if you don't find any birds ,I promise you, you will fall in love with this place. It's pretty basic. Jon houses, hand pumped water, running steam all the way around the camp.
