Post Lady Luck finally shines on me!!!
When i mean luck iam not lying. Yesterday Shane heard this bird before going to school so we went after him this a.m. We got in the woods early knowing this bird and where he usually roost. Matter of fact we just name him the other day as "The Stump Gobbler". But after getting in there this morning we were suprised to not hear him gobble at all. After sticking it out for a few hours we decided to hit the Mtns for a while. With no luck in the mtns we headed home around 11:00. When we got home my wife said my uncle was looking for me b/c he had killled a bird and needed some help with cleaning it.About that time he knocked at the door so we went out to clean his bird. About 5 min in the cleaning Shane says i just heard that gobbler and he was right that gobbler was gobbling his head off!! I looked at my uncle and said it is 11:25 i am going after him. While me and Shane were walking to him he must have gobbled a dozen times. We knew he was in the field so we went up a cedar ridge to the edge of the field he was in. The last gobble he let out i thought he was at my 10:00 position and around 75 yds. So standing there catching my breath i gave a soft yelp and it wasn't 30 seconds and here he came running in at my 2:00 position. He stopped at the edge of the cedars about 35 yds and stuck his neck up looking my way. I had the gun up and as soon as that diamond was on his head i shot and down he went. Now this was the quickest hunt i have ever had and the only one i have ever killed standing up. All i can say is Luck Luck Luck !!! He weighed in at 19 lbs,10.5 inch beard and 1 1/8 spurs.

sometimes those mid morning hunts are the best, usually quick.....I didn't kill my bird yesterday until close to 11:00. Only took 10 minutes to call them to me. Morning hunts seem to last forever.

Congrats... you certainly put your time in... maybe not on that hunt, but you've paid your dues!

Hey, I never argue with a little luck! But patience is also a virtue - you earned it. Congrats.
