I managed to yelp a couple of jakes up this morning for a friend. The hunt itself was crazy. I couldn't do anything right. I bumped five different turkeys off the limb this morning including one gobbler. I called in a couple of hens only to turn my head and spook them. Finally, I let out a kee kee a couple of times and got a raspy hen (later to realize it was a jake) to answer. We called back in forth for several minutes. Finally, two jakes made there way into us. My friend hadn't killed a bird and so he nailed one. A small thing, 11 lbs, 4 1/2 inch beard and of course 1/2 inch nubs. Still he was excited and I was excited for him.
