Post Bad weather bird # 2
Saturday started out to be a miserable day. I was able to get about 2 hours of non-hurricane type weather out of it. 4:00 A.M. a hard rain set in and i was discouraged . Luckily by six the rain tapered off to a ever so slight drizzle. I moved in on some birds that i couldn't do anything with wednesday. Henned-up bad, Including a bruiser that i watched strut 65 yards out w/ three hens. Talk about a longbeard. Anyway no luck with him but I heard some gobbling a good ways off and that was my destination. Not the biggest of birds but he gave me a darn good hunt. He came in silent and took about 45 minutes to cover app. 150 yds. I had all but given up until he appeared about 70 yds below me. This bird was super sneaky checking out every little detail he could manage. He would walk 5-10 feet at a time and str-e-t-ch that neck out and left and right. I was thinking man this bird's been educated. Finally at 30 yds, Game over. 9 1/2" beard and 7/8' spurs and a heart pumping hunt worthy of bad weather. ANYONE ELSE HAVE LUCK ON SATURDAY??

Congrats on a fine, cagey bird.
