first bird of the season
Wed the 12th proved to be my lucky day. After sittting up on a bird the first day and hearing birds the first view days of the season it was all worth the wait. These birds were being hard headed but they met me half way. I heard a couple of birds start hammerin around 6:15 and after movin in on em it turned out to be four with the boss gobbler not making a peep. I worked hard on calling these birds up an old logging road. The "old ticker" 32 years to be exact, was jumping out of my throat. 3 big boys full strut and 1 just a cruisin along on the flank. it seemed like an eternity of watching them dance a waltz towards me. Finally I dropped the hammer. 21 lbs 11" beard and 1 1/2" spurs, hooyah.
