Todays hunt
Last night Shane decided he was going to hunt around the house for a couple hours before meeting up with his hunting buddy. So i decided since he was going to do that i would call my boss and see if he wanted to go together. We decided to hit on of our spots but No roost gobbling at all. Knowing this spot had turkeys we just hung out calling every once in a while. Finally a hen started answering and a distant gobbler sounded off. So we took off in the direction of the gobbler and got within 100 yds and set up. Gave a few soft calls but no answer. I then started cuttin and he fired up and within 10 min he was in our sight. It didn't take long before my boss cut down on him and ended the hunt. The bird weighed in at 19 lbs, 10 in beard with 1 1/4 spurs. On the way home the cell phone rang and it was Shane(my son) and i could tell by the tone of his voice he had some luck. He had killed one that weighed 18 lbs, 9 in beard , 1 in spurs but not only that he had met his hunting buddy and ended up calling one up for him also for another kill which was a jake but they were excited about all the action they have had. I took pics when we got home but am having trouble downloading them. If i every get them i will post them. I wish evryone luck and be safe!!
