I buy a lot of hunting stuff on Ebay and was looking today and saw a few auctions with people selling turkey beards. Who would buy someone elses turkey beards?? Has it really come to that for some people?

I hope not.........I'd say someone convinced the Japenese that turkey beards, when ground up in coffee, increase the libido.....on the contrary, and I don't know about ya'll, they have the opposite effect on me.

....there's plenty of guys more than happy to put their name on a trophy they didn't shoot.

well i dont know about people buying em to use as a trophy, but there are a good many call and craft makers out there that buy beards, wingbones, and the wingfeathers. The beards make a nice lookin addition to a lanyard, wingbones = calls, wingfeathers to fletch arrows. I make calls and if i make one to sell i sure dont want some stranger to have the beard off of one of the turkeys i shot, no i hold on to those myself, but its much easier to sell one with a beard you bought off ebay. But i guess there might be those that would buy em for bragging rights same kind of folks that hunt enclosed game farms.

It would seem to me that this would fall under the same laws of selling bear parts....illegal.
Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Hopefully someone will take the time to look into and prosecute if does fall under such a category.

I think most of them are in the taxidermy category, so hopefully that is the reason they are on ebay.

I never thought about the taxidermy or call making use for the beards. Hopefully that's what's happening with them.
