Post Jelly head choke results
I haven't been happy with my pattern results with my Kicks choke so I tried a different one tonight. My patterns were good with it to 30yds then they went to pot. I'm not a "long range" turkey hunter, but I do hunt fields and would like to be comfortable to 40ish yds just in case.

Benelli Nova 12ga
Primos Jelly Head at .655
3.5" Nitro 4x5x7.5 Nickel
45yds
226 pellets in a 9" paper plate

Reckon I'm done tinkering :D

now if you can just put the 9 inch circle in EXACTLY the right place and keep him out there at 45 yds , so it does not get smaller than nine inches you have just what you need...right?? kidding, of course....frankly I am a little leary of ityy bitty patterns out there a t great distances becsue so many of my shots are hopefully way inside the 40 yds outside limit and the birds i have tended to mess up and miss have been REAL close.

:D GN.

I'm leary of too small a pattern too. I'm shooting again this afternoon at a poster size paper to check the full spread. The Kicks choke is excellent to 30yds and it will be with me in final testing. I'll go with whichever is best from 20-40 after another round of testing.

I'm just glad to get another chance to shoot. When work's freed up it's always been too cold, or raining, or dark. I'm very familiar with the performace of the Kicks setup after multiple testing sessions and two years of hunting with the setup. I just can't resist tinkering a bit more :D

Sorry for the delay. The Kicks choke is .665 and the Primos is .655. I tried a Kicks in .655 with about the same results as the .665 Kicks - great to 30yds then fell apart. Nitro is who recommended that I try the jelly head.

I'm not shooting Nitro hevi-shot, but the Nitro Nickel. I'm just glad to finally find a consistent setup.
