Post subject:  BIG BLUE ARROW GUIDANCE

I recently moved to Chesapeake, VA from California and would like to take my son turkey hunting. I am aware of the Chickahominy WMA about 1.5 hours north of me, but can anyone point me in a direction to locate turkeys around Suffolk.

Many thanks from all.

I'm kind of in your situation, i moved up here from georgia to go to school in va beach, i have one spot in rappahannock county but its a 3 hour drive, chickahomony looked good from my scouting but they say it gets hit hard, it might be a good place to hunt from a small boat to get away from the pressure, I leased about 60 acres with 5 boys in suffolk but it was primarily for dove hunting (big corn field) however there is about 5 acres of woods attached to a larger piece of woods, saw 8 gobblers there in jan while bowhunting deer, i dont know how good it will be, i've been trying to get permission on other lands in suffolk and southhampton cause i've seen lots of birds while traveling 58, but havent had any luck, the standard reply is its in a lease already, so unless you join a club good luck, if you do join a club know that they run deer with dogs and drive the roads in pickups with radio's, not that there is anything wrong with it (we need to keep people hunting) but if your like me you might be used to hunting deer a different way, which you still can if you bowhunt or use blackpowder before firearms season starts. I'm trying to get into a club on a spring turkey hunting only basis, will let you know what i find out.
