Post Slipped out to Mississippi for a few days
Since TN moved the season back to mid April.. my cousin that lives in Nashville and I decided to try some new ground in MS.. I got access to a little private from a guy I have known for years and it backs up to some public.. we actually killed both of these birds on the public ground .. go figure.. Took me a few days to find the birds, but once I found them we were in them for a couple of days.. I got there and hunted Friday.. never heard a bird.. Jonny was tied up and couldn't make it until Sunday evening.. I found one on Saturday in high winds but was able to call him in and seal the deal.. I also found the most sign I had found on anywhere I had been so far.. I left it alone on Sunday to save it for Monday when Jonny arrived.. I hunted another piece of public.. heard one give two gobbles but didn't find much sign.. on Monday we hit that spot again.. but it was a miserable morning .. misting rain.. he never gobbled.. went back to where I found the sign and killed that one.. and ran into some.. I dropped back to call before I realized there was more than one.. and it was too late to move at that point.. Jonny killed one .. we gave the other two an hour then fired them back up.. ended up calling 4 in.. two more came in from a different direction.. needed another 10 yds and I would have taken the shot.. but I never felt good about it.. we played with them again Tuesday morning and even got one to 80 in full strut.. but he wouldn't fully commit either.. before rolling back to our respective homes.. pretty good trip for going in blind and not knowing anything about the place..

Great job by two of the best. At this game. Congrats to both of you. But the result was never in doubt.
