Post Black Hills success
Spent the last 6 days in the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming chasing merriams. All I know is if we thought we were having a rough season here in VA with henned up birds, we had it easy compared to how they were acting out there. I have now found that a Merriam hen is the most evil of all hens. If you even began to call to a gobbler and a hen was around the next time you would hear him he’d be double the distance and steadily moving away. Out of our group we all witnessed this multiple times this pst week. Luckily out of 4 of us we were all able to fill our South Dakota tags and should of all filled our Wyoming tags with some extremely close calls. Even with the tough hunting, to get to chase these awesome birds up in the mountains and see the sights that we did, it made the trip well worth it. I will for sure be going back to settle the score in Wyoming.

Great Pic! I always wanted to get a Marriams turkey. Would probably want to get it mounted, very pretty bird. Congrats on a great find.
