V The only people who trap now are people who love to do it or hobbyist or landowners who love deer and turkey.. it's not worth it financially anymore for all others.. I think this is big reason in the turkey population decline since the boom in the late 90s.

Bingo! I agree. I was thinking about getting a half dozen dog proofs to set out of Ricky raccoon. Not for the pelts, but for the sake of the turkey. V

I was just reading some of the replies about wet springs. Lovett Williams, I think, said wet springs caused no problems with poult survival. He said poult survival was determined by predators. I don't know. I always too heard that a wet spring was bad for the birds

Roy I agree with you. Lovett Williams is in Fla where wet may be ok if it does not get cold and wet at the same time. . Where we are located at this latitude I think wet plus our often very cold spells in the spring hatch season has the potential to be a bad bad thing for the turkey poults. I have no degree in biology. I have been around a while though.

GN, are you telling us that you are getting old? You definitely have some experience.
I'll say this, I have more gray than brown on my head too. V
