Buddy of mine tagged out last Wednesday w this bird. Here’s his text after shot:
“It’s head was crimson when it saw the deke but then cooled fast.. think it’s a bearded hen, couldn’t tell in the moment.. bird gobbled 80 yards to my right.. 20 minutes later she walks to my deke from the left, thought it circled my spot”

I can’t figure this one out.
The fan is not real large, but is all even length, no spurs, 7.5” beard, breast feathers look brown tipped and are all worn down like it was sitting a nest, large feet, head has blues and reds






Any guesses would be appreciated.

Looks like a hen to me. Small fan, brown legs, likely feathered the nest with those missing. Not terribly uncommon to have beard and quite many will have some red in the head. That one seems to have a lot.
